Note from Sue

I have the great fortune to work with highly successful, strong leaders. They are people with purpose and passion. They take ownership for their work and their impact on others. Downside? There are times when “personal accountability” gets equated with “I gotta’ do it all myself”.

Those who know me know that I am no stranger to this sentiment in my own life and work. Yet, I’ve also witnessed the power of multiplying the contributions each of us can make by surrounding ourselves with the right people and information.

In this newsletter, I’ve grouped together some helpful resources to help you benefit from the power of alignment with others.

1. Group Onboarding Coaching: Ramp Up Right

  • On Tuesday, July 29th at 10:00am Eastern (Toronto, New York) I’m holding the 3rd in a series of onboarding coaching calls. Participants in these calls have benefited not only from information that I’ve brought to the call, but particularly from hearing experiences—both success stories and difficulties -- of peers on the calls.

  • If you are in a new role or looking to support new hire in your team, we welcome you to this call on “Staying Out of the Ditch”. The first few months in a new role are full of challenges and overwhelm for the best of us… don’t hesitate to equip yourself and others with support.

2. Wow Them In Your New Job

  • In response to client demand, we’ve created a great self-coaching resource to support you and your employees in ramping up well in their new positions. It’s like having a coach by your side or a little bird on your shoulder whispering secrets of success in your ear. It’s hot off the press, so order your copy now! Find out more at: www.clearingthe90dayhurdle.com.

2. Blog Post: Getting A New Boss? You’re Onboarding Again!

  • Our feature article today is a blog post that points out that anyone who gains a new boss is going through a transition experience in their work.

  • I encourage you not to just “tough it out on your own”, but to be pro-active about leveraging tools from Onboarding programs and having deliberate alignment conversations with your new boss.

3. Retreat for Women Leaders:

  • You’ve been investing in the talented folks around you and ensuring their development needs are met.

  • So, What have you done lately for YOU?

  • See the Side bar for information about an exclusive retreat we are designing where you can draw on the support of a great group of fellow women leaders.

4. Attracting & Selecting Great People!

  • You’ve GOT to check out this very cool company who has figured out how to help you sniff out the right talent for your company. Development by Design is a Partner of Hiring Smart. My clients have been implementing their fabulous system that enables you to trash the useless resumes, find out what you NEED TO KNOW about applicants up-front and handle the screening process with rigour and efficiency. www.hiringsmart.ca.

I look forward to hearing from you about any additional resources that have helped you to combat that natural tendency to “Go it Alone”. I welcome your calls to discuss how any of the above resources can help you expedite your own success.
