Note from Sue

Feeling Itchy?

Right now, I'm satisfying some of my itches... itches for some things new and itches for some things missing.

My family and I are at a beautiful resort in Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba. It's my first visit to this province. (Just 1 province and 2 territories to go!) So far, I've been trail riding on horseback, dipped in a mineral pool and ridden a mountain bike through a forest... all new experiences and it's just day 2.

Other important elements of this vacation are satisfying itches for familiar things that I simply crave having more of in my day-to-day: gazing at green, spacious vistas... spending time with my husband and children away from routines... poking around in treasure-filled used book stores... curling up in a sun-filled window seat.

As a new season approaches, I encourage you to check-in with yourself... what are you itching for? Here's some information that might help.

• In my feature article, The Itch, I address the entrepreneurial longing that many of us have experienced. Are you itching to start your own business? What's important to consider first?

• For those of you itching for a new employment opportunity or already looking ahead to your start date... I'm excited to offer my new self-coaching workbook to support you in making this transition a fantastic success! Check out the Quick Links for more info.

• If you are a senior woman leader itching for rejuvenation and connection with other like-minded women, see if we can entice you to join us at a Retreat in September or October. More info in the Events sidebar.

• If you are wondering what to do about retaining the people in your company who are itching for a new employment experience, be sure to join me on Oct 15th for a half-day seminar on Strategic Workforce Retention hosted by my partners at HiringSmart.

P.S. I'd like to publicly congratulate my husband on thriving through the past 2 years of his PhD courses. He's satisfying an itch he had since he was 6 years old... all while continuing to be successful in his consulting career. The kids and I are proud! Here's to calling you Doctor by 2010, Dave!

Feature Article: The Itch

After a summer of a more laid-back pace and vacation time for dreaming, many of you are dreading a return to the relative “straight-jacket” that corporate life can slip back into during the fall.

You may be absolutely ITCHING to get out!

I’m not talking about the traditional 7-year itch that can befall a marriage… but the itch to leave the 9 to 5 grind (or is that 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and beyond?). You long for the freedom of running your OWN BUSINESS.
